ReplyDeleteI'm in the market for a tankless right now. Why doesn't rheem make one with a buffer tank? Does navien have a patent on that or something? It is a very good design, just wish it was a better brand

ReplyDeleteHave you noticed any fluxations in the heat or the flow of hot water say if you have the washer, shower and faucet on all at the same time? Have you noticed any problems with the unit. I live in a cold climate (new england) and was wondering if you notice any difference in flow time during the colder months. My wife called me today at work to let me know our water tank just bit the dust and I need to make a decision and any help you could provide would be wonderful. I'm an early adopter.

ReplyDeleteI'm 7 months into owning this unit and have had zero problems so far. Its puts out endless hot water without issue. You can also buy replacement heating elements off the shelf at your local home depot. I've read that if you have untreated hard water, it can lower the life of the heating elements. I do have well water, but it goes thru a treat system before it hits the water heater.

Your best bet is to check the Ecosmart website, it has a calculator that tells you which model will work for you based on your geographic location. The actual unit measures 3 factors, the incoming water temp, the flow rate of the water, and the temperature requested.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking the hotter temperature difference helped keep the temperature more constant by the time it reaches its destination (heat loss). Although this could be a difference in the temperature sensor in the unit, compared to my in-line thermometer. I will test the temperature coming out of my upstairs sink and see if its is accurate based on the setting of the unit. I'll post an update when completed.
ReplyDeleteDid you find when you had it at 105 degrees and it was up to almost 115 in reality it was always a little more like 10 degrees hotter all the time? Say you did want it 105 degrees, would you set it near 95 or so?
ReplyDeleteMy Electric bill prior to the tankless was $152, the month after, $92.. However I was without power for a full week during a bad storm. Now I'm into heating bills.. I hope to have a better comparative when more temperate weather returns.
